VAUX ~ Plague Music
CD released on September 21st, 2004 by Equal Vision Records.
A force not to be reckoned with.
Sometimes something so grand, so powerful or just so absolutely ideal (at doing exactly what it is meant to do) comes along; a massive inexorable force that seems to crush everything in its way. Should we impose control? Who are we to step in that forces way? Should we interfere? Or are we better off to simply get the hell out of the way, and watch in amazement? The latter of the two choices is exactly what many people are forced to do when confronted face-to-face with something this grand.
I Grew up in a small town located within Tornado Alley, myself and many others in that area are seasonally expected to conform to Mother Nature. I am forced into the same situation while listening to Plague Music (the new EP by self-enforced steamrollers VAUX). I cannot rationally justify to myself fighting back, the overwhelming force of the sound that is their own is too strong. I am left with one choice, to let nature take its course. I simply break all my windows and run to the basement and take cover. Soon the excitement of the storm will be gone, the fog will dissipate and life will continue on as it once was. Things will once again become dull, farmers will go back to work and because we experienced the "threat of average" life suddenly becomes worth living again.
