Why do parties I go to invariably end up in the kitchen? Is it a Canadian thing? Is it because that's where the fridge and booze are? I don't know why, but there have been to so many parties over the years that start out in the living room or on a deck but everyone always seems to gravitate towards the kitchen before the night is out.

I honestly think I've had some of my best discussions in kitchens.

One time I admit feeling like a bit of a prick since we ended up abandoning a friend's girlfriend in the living room. I wandered back through to keep her company for a bit but she ended up joining us in the kitchen before too long.

There have been so many nights and early mornings spent in kitchens. I remember pouring my heart out to a girl I had just met after drinking for nearly eight hours straight then wandering off to catch the first bus back home. Have you ever started to get a hangover while you're still awake? I didn't think it was possible either.

Nothing can compare to the experience of hanging out in a boss' kitchen after working on your seventh or eighth beer of the night and discussing an idea for an article. A lot of great ideas were shared that night, I also realized that I know a lot of useless shit about music.

Hell, I've even had my expectations turned on their ears. A combination of booze and exhaustion caused me to admit to moving back home briefly to a fairly attractive woman at a party. Surprisingly, she didn't look down on me but instead said there was no shame in it. It made me feel a little better, I still moved back out once I had found a new job.

To the kitchen; the great unofficial gathering place for parties!
